Advanced Enzyme Technologies Ltd. is driven and supported by a very strong and committed team of Microbiologists, Pharmacists, Engineers, Food Technologists, and Biotechnologists. This entire team is ably led by our Chairman Mr. V. L. Rathi and Managing Director Mr. C. L. Rathi, both of whom combined, have an experience of over 7 decades in
the Enzyme Industry.

Mr. V. L. Rathi, armed with a degree in Food Science and Biotechnology, has more than 30 years of experience in the field of enzymes. He has had a brief stint in the Food Sciences industry before he was introduced to Enzymes very early in his career. Since then there has been no looking back and he has pioneered many a developments in this field.

Mr. Rathi has been resident in the US since 1973. As Advanced Enzyme Technologies Ltd. (the erstwhile Advanced Biochemicals Ltd) was being set up in India, he parallely setup Specialty Enzymes & Biochemicals Co in the US to lead the enzyme initiatives in the Western hemisphere.

Based out of California, he travels the globe for promoting the Enzyme cause. His interactions with people and technology across the world, allow him to bring a wholesome global perspective to Advanced Enzymes. It is only his wholesome discipline which has allowed Advanced Enzymes to come this far.

A pioneer and a world leader in his own right, Mr. Rathi has never allowed success to get to him. He is well balanced & down-to-earth and feels blessed for his family and the people working with him. A philanthropist, he is involved with various NGOs like Sarathi and The Art of Living Foundation.

Mr. C. L. Rathi, is the visionary, whose vision catapulted Advanced Enzymes to become South-East-Asia’s largest enzyme manufacturer. He setup Advanced Enzyme Technologies Ltd (the erstwhile Advanced Biochemicals Ltd) with a vision to make India self-sufficient in the growing field of enzymes. Such was his vision, that the plant commissioned in 1991 is till date South-East-Asia’s largest enzyme manufacturing plant.

His initial steps into the world of enzymes began at the grass root level when he began cultivating papaya in partnership with a farmer and started manufacturing papain in 1978. He setup Advanced Biochemicals Ltd in 1989 and scouted the world for enzyme manufacturing technology. He landed a technical collaboration with a highly reputed Korean company and setup Advanced Biochemicals’ Sinnar plant near Nashik at a total investment of $10 million. Such has been the progress in the last two decades, that today, governments from several leading nations are courting him to setup enzyme manufacturing plants in their respective countries.

Having brought Advanced Enzymes to the global stage, Mr. Rathi’s biggest challenge today is human resource development. Transforming AETL from a promoter led company to a multi-enterpreneur driven, scalable global enterprise, is what he is slowly becoming successful at.

A stalwart in the field of enzymes, Mr. Rathi has been called upon for many special assignments by the government and the industry alike. A devoted disciple of H.H. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Mr. Rathi has been leading several initiatives for The Art of Living Foundation as well.

Mr. Beni Prrasad Rauka, a Chartered Accounted and Company Secretary by qualification, brings with him a rich experience of over 24 years in the Finance Industry.

Mr. Rauka has worked with Category I Merchant Banking firms and finance companies in his long standing career. Some of the major IPOs he has handled as a merchant banker are Sanwaria Agro Industires Limited, Murli Agro Industries Limited, Biofil Industries Limited, JVL Agro Industries Limited, Jenburkt Pharmaceuticals Limited and Systematix Corporate Services Limited.

Mr Rauka joined Advanced Enzymes in the year 2000 as a consultant. He was able to overcome a very important challenge at that time - that of understanding the key value drivers of a new-age, complex business. His understanding of what drives the business and profits, lent Mr. Rauka a very pivotal role in the company and he was asked to serve as the CFO since 2002.
As business has expanded, Advanced Enzymes has setup several subsidiaries to focus on core segments. Mr. Rauka has been leading the financial innovation in this new business structure and managing the financial activities of all group companies since 2007. As Group CFO, his prime objective today is to ensure that adequate and cost-effective finance is available for the group’s strategic plans and investments.

Mr. Mukund Kabra holds a B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from M.Tech. in Bioprocess Technology from UDCT. Although he began on his own initially, he was called upon in 1995 to assist the overall development at Advanced Enzymes’ Nashik plant.

He began at the junior-most level and worked ground up to establish his credentials. He effectively dealt with several key issues related to strain productivity, quality and technology in those days. He brought in the latest technology available from Japan and adapted it to the existing infrastructure. Several such initiatives helped the loss-making unit turn around in less than two years. In view of his achievements, he was subsequently elevated to head the entire plant and related operations.

He successfully led several plant related innovations and technology upgradations which enabled the company to improve its output several fold within the given infrastructure. Having successfully led so-far, Mr. Kabra continues to lead the company on the core enzyme fermentation technology front. From 2 to 42 fermented enzymes, in just a span of a little more than a decade, is all credit to him and his long-standing team-mate Dr. Anil Gupta. Taking an enzyme from scratch and developing it to a commercially viable product, is nothing new to this fantastic duo.

Mr. Kabra is a key member of the Board, also guiding the company on all strategic fronts. His key challenge today is to learn from all the past mistakes and successfully triple Advanced Enzymes’ fermentation capacity by setting up a state-of-the-art plant at Indore.

Dr. Anil Gupta is a Ph.D. in Microbiology with over 18 years of experience in Industrial Biotechnology. He has published over 18 research papers in journals of national and international repute. Prior to his joining Advanced Enzymes, he also received the coveted Young Scientist Award Project from Department of Science & Technology, Govt. Of India and has worked as Principal Investigator in several research projects.

In 1996, Dr. Gupta joined Advanced Enzymes a junior research associate in the Process Microbiology Lab. Initial projects involved improvement of yields for existing enzymes and scale up of certain newly developed enzymes. Paucity of financial and human resources added to the challenges that Dr. Gupta thrived upon and finally overcame. Since then, he is largely attributed with the successful development of several enzymes from microbial-scale to commercial-scale production levels.

Today, as General Manager Research & Development, Dr. Gupta heads the process development and the applied microbiology labs and leads the research effort in developing several new commercially-viable enzymes every year. He and his teams efforts lend the much needed strength & depth to Advanced Enzymes marketing team as it expands into newer industries & newer geographies.

After having secured a Chemical Engineering degree from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune and a Post Graduate Diploma in Bioprocess Technology from UDCT, Mr. Dipak Roda began his career with Khandelwal Laboratories in their bio-technology division. He initial work involved identification of the enzyme, Cellulase. He was later involved in the product and application development for the dynamic textile industry.

Mr. Roda joined Advanced Enzymes in 2005 as a General Manager in Sales & Marketing. His first and foremost challenge was to build the marketing team, streamline the marketing mix and setup a robust distribution infrastructure. He played a key role in aligning the product baskets to the respective industries that they catered to.

He successfully led the company’s entry into the large and competitive Chinese market. He established the Advanced Enzymes’ presence in this key market through the company’s subsidiary Fame State International Trading Company, based out of Hong Kong. Thanks to his initiatives, Advanced Enzymes is poised for multi-fold growth in this key market. His key challenge today is to build a strong & stable marketing, sales & distribution network in China.

Mr. Roda is also a Director on board of Advanced Enzytech Solutions Ltd which is driving the growth of the Industrial Enzymes segment in the SAARC region.

A double graduate, Piyush first completed his Bachelors in Maths from Mumbai University and then in Finance from Michigan Tech University, USA.  He later completed his MBA in General Management from SCMHRD and joined Advanced Enzymes in 2005.
His biggest challenge initially was to break old mindsets and usher in modern best practices. A complete overhaul of the corporate brand and implementation of SAP across the organization were amongst the key projects that he initiated & completed in the first two years.
His next assignment was to head the traditional stronghold of the company, the Pharma business. Piyush has been successful at improving cash flows & increasing overall reach to the end customers. In 2008, he setup Advanced Vital Enzymes Ltd (Advenza), which through ethical marketing, has established itself as a leader in Enzyme Therapy in India. Under Piyush, Advenza has also been able to successfully acquire a finished formulations unit in 2009 and has been able to carve out a niche for itself as a quality manufacturer of stabilized enzyme preparations.

Over the years, Piyush has implemented several key initiatives in the Corporate Communications, Human Resources, Information Technology and Intellectual Property domains. The company’s all-new focus on patent filings & grants is due to one of such initiatives. He also plays a significant role as an advisor to the Board on all strategic matters.
